You can hit Vulak from the area where melee need to run to in order to avoid the Ancient Breath AoE. This allows you to fire non-stop during the encounter and be in range for things like bard songs and other short-term buffs.
You cannot be shrunk or be a halfling in order for this to work. Pay attention to your hit messages. It’s possible for you to fire but have the ledge eat your arrows.
Once you find the location that’s hitting the dragon while behind this ledge, sit back, hit trueshot and fill him full of arrows.
Folks have also been able to outrange the Ancient Breath by standing very far back, but sometimes one step too far will get you deathtouched. I have not tested this myself since the ledge method has been working for me.
